Overview
Airfob Pro can automatically detect IP
cameras that are connected to the same network as an Airfob Edge Reader. The
cameras use the reader as a gateway, eliminating the need for an NVR (Network
Video Recorder). Instead, the cameras utilize the built-in SD card storage.
- For each Airfob Edge Reader installed we can support up to 2
live view streams at 4K
- For each XStation-2 installed we can support up to 4 live view
streams at 4K
Compatibility
- Onvif Profiles: IP cameras must be
compatible with Onvif profiles S or G.
- Onvif Profile S: Streaming Live Video
- Onvif Profile G: Record Video to an SD Card
- SD Card: IP cameras should have an
on-board SD card to record video for later playback. (MOCA recommends
SanDisk microSDXC Class10 Max Endurance 256GB or 512GB)
- Recommended Brands: We have
excellent compatibility with Hanwha, Hikvision, and Dahua cameras.
Compatibility with other brands may vary depending on their adherence to
Onvif profiles.
- Testing New Cameras: If you have
other camera brands that you would like to test, our team can assist you
through the process.

Enabling Onvif on your IP Cameras
Airfob Space uses Onvif protocols to
communicate with IP cameras, so Onvif must be enabled before attempting to
search for these cameras to Airfob Space. Here is a generalized approach that
works across most camera brands.
Prerequisites
- Identify Camera IP Address: Use the
manufacturer’s software (if available) or a network scanner tool to find
the camera’s IP address on the network. Ensure that the computer you are
using is on the same network as the camera to facilitate access.
- Prepare Login Credentials: Many
cameras prompt you to set an admin password on first use. Keep credentials
secure as you’ll need them for configuration.
General Steps to Enable ONVIF on IP
Cameras
- Log into the Camera’s Web Interface:
- Open a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge are commonly
supported).
- Enter the camera’s IP address in the browser’s address bar.
- Log in with the admin username and password.
- Navigate to Network or Configuration Settings:
- Look for a “Network” or “Configuration” section; these are
usually found in the main menu or settings panel.
- Within the Network settings, locate an Advanced or Integration
Protocol sub-menu.
- Enable ONVIF Protocol:
- Search for a setting labeled ONVIF, Integration
Protocol, or similar.
- Enable ONVIF or Open Network Video Interface.
- If your camera provides options for ONVIF Authentication,
choose off.
- Set up an ONVIF Profile or User (if applicable):
- Many cameras require the creation of an ONVIF-specific user
profile for access. If prompted, create an ONVIF user, setting
permissions as required.
- Choose a username and password for ONVIF authentication.
- Save and Test Connectivity:
- Save all settings.
- Test the camera’s ONVIF connection by searching for it in
Airfob Space, following the steps at the top of this page.
Additional Tips
- Firmware Updates: Check for the
latest firmware on your camera and ensure your Airfob Edge Readers are
running firmware v2.5.1 or later.
- Port Forwarding: You may need to
configure port forwarding on your router for the Onvif port, typically
port 80 or 554 depending on the camera.
- Third-Party Tools: Tools like the
ONVIF Device Manager can help verify ONVIF settings and functionality,
showing real-time streaming and configuration options.
