Opening the Door with Airfob

Opening the Door with Airfob

Airfob Space credentials give you the convenience of opening doors using your mobile phone instead of plastic RFID cards.

There are two ways to open the door with your mobile card.
1. Tagging your smartphone to the Airfob device
A basic tagging method enables direct Bluetooth or NFC authentication by tagging a smartphone close to the access control device.

2. Long-Press your mobile card near by the Airfob device
Another option ‘long-press’ opens the door by holding your finger on the mobile card for a few seconds at a distance after turning on the app.

Tagging to the device

The Airfob Space app must be running to use Airfob Space credentials.
Airfob Space offers two methods, foreground and background. (Read more)

  1. Foreground : Airfob Space will only open doors if the app is on screen and the mobile card is visible.
  2. Background : Airfob Space will open the doors even when the phone is locked, as long as the app is still running.

No matter which mode you set, you can open doors with the most basic tagging method.

The contact point between Airfob device and the smartphone is shown in the image below.
However, there may be differences depending on the model of your smartphone.
Refer to the image below, depending on the connection method you have set on the Airfob Space application.

NFC authentication is available only on Android mobile phones.

Long-press

Hold your finger on the mobile card at a distance from the device (access control reader) after turning on the app screen. Then the open door will be waiting for you to walk through.
Please remember, there are a few things to consider if you want to use the long-press option.
  1. Connection method must be set to use Bluetooth as the Background Mode. You can see how it's set up in the Connection Method menu.
  2. This feature may be disabled by site administrators to maintain a high level of security.
  3. The distance between the device and the smartphone may vary depending on the smartphone type.
  4. It may be mistaken if various devices (access control readers) are installed nearby.
