You can increase the convenience of users using mobile cards (to open doors) by allowing hands-free functionality on the device, or by adjusting the Bluetooth authentication sensitivity (RSSI). These features can be set differently for each device in Edit device information, allowing you to manage both convenience and security as needed.
In this article, you'll learn 1) How to enable Hands-Free and 2) How to adjust the RSSI in the Airfob Pro portal.
How to enable Hands-Free
Hands-free is a feature that allows users to pre-open the door by simply walking up to the Airfob device with their smartphon, without having to physically touch their mobile card to the Airfob device. In Edit device information, you can select whether hands-free features are available for each device.
Devices installed at doors that require tight security, such as lab doors and employee-only offices, will have the hands-free feature disabled. On the other hand, devices installed in freely accessible areas, such as lounge can enable it.
By default, when you first add a device to your site, the hands-free feature is disabled. You can selectively apply the feature to only those devices that need it for convenience.
1) Open the Registered Devices menu in the Airfob Pro portal.
2) In the list of devices, click the area of the device you want to allow to use the hands-free feature.
3) Turn the toggle next to the Hands-free from gray into green in the Edit device pop-up screen.
4) Click the Save button to reflect it on the device setting.
5) Launch the Airfob Space app to edit the app settings.
6) Open the app menu, and enable the Hands-free feature under the Connection methods.
7) When the user approaches the deivce selected 2), the door will automatically open from a distance.
※ Even if a user manually enables the hands-free feature in the Airfob Space app first, a device with the hands-free feature disabled will not be able to open hands-free.
The distance at which the hands-free feature works may vary depending on the smartphone model, the environment in the device is installed, etc.
Sometimes doors open when phones are still too far away. The layout of your space, the proximity of other readers, and other factors can affect the reader's sensitivity. Because of this, we now allow you to adjust the RSSI sensitivity settings for any reader.
1) Go to the Registered Devices menu in the Airfob Pro portal.
2) In the list of devices, click the area of the device you want to re-set the RSSI.
3) At the very bottom of the Edit Device panel, you will find the Sensitivity Setting.
4) If you want to allow mobile cards to be authenticated from a long distance than now, select and click between 5, 10, and 15.
5) If you want to allow mobile cards to be authenticated from a closer distance, select and click between -5, -10, and -15.
6) Click the Save button to apply the changes.
