Bluethooth & Location Settings

Bluethooth & Location Settings

In order to use the Airfob App, you must allow the use of Bluetooth and location services (location information).

Many cases where the mobile card cannot be used properly are caused by not applying the Bluetooth and Location Services settings correctly. Refer to the explanation below to help you use the mobile card and app more smoothly.

Why is the app asking to allow Bluetooth and location services?

1. Bluetooth

The Airfob app works by leveraging Bluetooth communication between your phone and the device (a mobile card reader installed on your door). Bluetooth must be turned on to use the app.

2. Location Service (Location Information)

The Airfob app uses location information to determine the Bluetooth distance between your phone and your device (mobile card reader installed on the door).

Proper Bluetooth and Location Service settings according to app Contact Method

Check how to set up contact method in the Airfob app menu. Then find your preferred method below and set the appropriate settings.

1. Bluetooth & Only While App On-Screen mode

If you use the Only While App On-Screen mode that tags with the app screen turned on, it is possible to set Bluetooth and location information to allow only while using the app.

2. Bluetooth & Background mode

If you want the app to run in the background mode all the time and use the background mode, which conveniently tags without turning on your smartphone, you must set Bluetooth and location service to Always Allow.

3. NFC

Even if you use the NFC contact method on your Android smartphone, you must agree to the use of Bluetooth and location service. Location service is required for apps that use the Bluetooth function on Android.

iOS

Since the app works via Bluetooth communication, you need to allow the use of Bluetooth service. If Bluetooth is turned off, the application will not work properly.

If you want to use background mode, the Location Service must be allowed the app to use it.

Background mode is a convenient way to access devices (readers) without turning the smartphone screen on. To use this feature the application must be continuously running in the background.

Android

Android phones require location services to be enabled to use Bluetooth communication.
The application uses location data to enable Bluetooth communication even when the app is running in the background.

If you want to set it on background mode please set your location permission to ‘always’.
